Thank You

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to my print sale this weekend. Your support is much appreciated.

And special thanks to Doug and Margot Miller for graciously opening their home to me.  You are doing so much for our community.

If you could not make it but would still like to take advantage of the “pay what you will” prices, please contact me before May 11, when the sale ends. Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee delivery of your print before I leave, but I will get on it as soon as I return.

Thanks, again.

An Exciting Opportunity

Dear Good Noise Photography fans,

I am writing you today to ask for your help in a special project of which I am proud to be part.

I was so pleased to learn that I had been named a member of a medical team that is undertaking a 15 day mission to Nicaragua beginning on May 12th, 2012.  The trip has been organized as part of my school’s Specialist High Skills Major Program in Health and Wellness.  As we travel the country, students will help with portable community clinics and visit hospitals, and will also tour orphanages and help distribute food at feeding centres.

I believe that photography has the power to do good.  Although my official role is supervisory, my real purpose is to document the trip for the school, the community and for the Nicaraguan people.    My hope is that not only will this adventure help broaden my experience and sharpen my skills, but it will also be an opportunity to put my mandate into practice – to make some good noise that will make a difference.  By traveling with the students, teachers, doctors and nurses, I will share the stories of a country, and a people, in true need.

Today, I am asking for your support in this endeavour.  Unlike most student travel programs, all team members, including supervisors and students, pay their own way.  Part of each payment purchases a physician travel pack, which contains medicines and medical supplies such as antibiotics, antihistamines, ulcer medication, vitamins, ointments, eye drops and Tylenol.

To raise these funds, I am running a “pay what you will” print sale leading up to lift-off on May 12th.  Until that day I am offering any size print (8×10, 11×17, 13×19) for whatever you are willing to invest in this venture.  All you have to do is find your favourite photograph on my website, my Facebook page or my Flickr page, send me a message with the photo’s name and the size you would like and I will see it is delivered to you in exchange for your investment.

If you prefer to see the prints in person, Doug and Margot Miller have been kind enough to host an art show and sale at Heron Croft Farm on Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th from 2 pm to 5 pm.  I will have many prints at the show, as well as some of my larger works and books.  Directions and details to follow.

If you have ever considered buying a print or a book in the past or if you simply like what I am doing and want to invest in it, I ask that you please do it now.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you on the 5th and 6th.

John Fearnall
